Chennai: The police has warned that those involved in violent political parties demanding the results of the local government elections will be arrested immediately.
Urban local body elections are being held today in 268 centers across Tamil Nadu. 3 layers of security have been put in place at all the centers. Additional barriers have been set up to prevent accidents.
The Election Commission has issued separate identity cards to candidates and agents. You can show this to the police standing guard and go inside the counting center. The agent who goes in, is not allowed to go in again if he comes out. No items including cell phone, pen, water bottle, food are allowed inside the center.
Action will be taken against the agents who cause the problem unnecessarily. Anyone involved in the violence, including political parties, demanding the election results will be arrested immediately. Police have warned that all legal action will be taken against them.
The respective district SPs and police officials went directly to inspect the security arrangements made at the counting centers yesterday.
Police have also advised security personnel to abide by the Corona rules.
