There are 24 candidates contesting in the 190th and 192nd wards in Chennai with the highest number of candidates in the urban local body elections.
In Tamil Nadu, 21 corporations, 138 municipalities, 489 municipalities, 218 out of a total of 12826 seats for ward members have been elected without contest. 57,778 are vying for the remaining 12,603 seats.
Especially in Chennai, wards 190 and 192, which have the highest number of candidates, have 24 candidates. Wards 17, 28 and 31 with the lowest number of candidates are contesting 6 seats.
There are 3116 voters in the 159th ward in the Alandur constituency, which has the lowest turnout in Chennai. Also, the 137th ward in the Kodambakkam constituency, which has the highest number of voters, has 58,620 voters.
Tomorrow, 2.79 crore voters will go to the polls in urban local bodies across Tamil Nadu. A total of 31 thousand 29 polling stations have been set up in Tamil Nadu for this purpose. As many as 80,000 security personnel and 1.33 lakh civil servants will be deployed for the polls.
