US funded coronavirus research in China

Internet magazine Intercept reports that America has donated more than three million dollars to sponsor coronavirus research, including at an institute located in Wuhan.

The publication drowned that it had 900 pages of materials on the topic of US funding for research in China at its disposal. Among them is a grant to investigate the possibility of transmission of the virus from bats to humans, which was allocated through the National Institutes of Health in 2014-2019.

“The project was aimed at elucidating the factors that allow coronaviruses to enter the human population by studying a variety of viruses in a critical group of animals in places with a high risk of emergence in the outbreak of new diseases,” Intercept reports.

The document notes that the Institute of Virology in Wuhan is listed among those who received the grant. Among other things, it contains important data on research in Wuhan.
