USF Women’s Lacrosse: Bulls Head to Virginia for Two Games | ESPN+ Streaming

NORFOLK, Va. – The University of South Florida women’s lacrosse team embarks on a two-game road swing this weekend, beginning with an American Athletic Conference contest at Old Dominion University on Saturday, March 28, followed by a Monday, March 30, matchup against No. 25 Richmond. Both games will be streamed live on ESPN+, offering fans opportunities to follow the Bulls as they navigate a challenging stretch of their second season.

Coming off a significant 9-7 victory over James Madison University (JMU) at Corbett Stadium, USF aims to build on that momentum. The win over JMU marked only the second conference loss for the Dukes in program history, signaling a growing competitive edge for the Bulls under head coach Mindy McCord. This weekend presents a dual challenge: a familiar conference opponent in Old Dominion and a first-ever meeting against a nationally ranked program in Richmond.

The young USF program, which debuted in February 2025, quickly established itself as a contender in the American Athletic Conference, drawing over 10,000 fans to Corbett Stadium throughout the season and finishing as the league’s runner-up. The team’s fast-paced offensive style, influenced by a high-tempo approach reminiscent of 1990s Loyola Marymount men’s basketball, has been a key factor in their early success.

Facing a Familiar Foe: Old Dominion

Saturday’s contest against Old Dominion is a crucial conference matchup for both teams. The Monarchs are coming off a 13-10 loss to Coastal Carolina, according to the Old Dominion Athletics website. USF previously defeated Old Dominion 15-10 in Tampa earlier this season, and will glance to replicate that performance on the road. The Bulls will need to maintain their offensive pressure and capitalize on opportunities to control possession.

Old Dominion currently holds a 4-6 overall record and a 1-3 record in conference play, as of March 26, 2024. The Monarchs are led offensively by senior attacker Katie McGoff, who has 31 goals on the season.

A First-Time Test: No. 25 Richmond

Monday’s game against No. 25 Richmond represents a significant step up in competition for the Bulls. It will be the first-ever meeting between the two programs. Richmond, currently ranked among the nation’s top 25 teams, recently secured a 16-6 win over Saint Joseph’s and is scheduled to play St. Bonaventure before hosting USF.

The Spiders boast a strong offense and a solid defensive unit, making them a formidable opponent. Richmond’s success is built on a balanced attack and a disciplined defensive approach. USF will need to execute its game plan effectively and limit turnovers to compete with a nationally ranked team.
