Vaccine combination: Who a third vaccination helps

Dhe Standing Vaccination Commission at the Robert Koch Institute has issued a new recommendation to use a mix, i.e. a so-called heterologous vaccination schedule, for Covid vaccinations. Accordingly, those who received AstraZeneca as their first vaccination should receive an mRNA vaccination from Biontech or Moderna as a second vaccination. The interval between the first and second vaccination dose should be at least four weeks. We explain the scientific background to this proposal here.
