Vélez achieved the first victory in the “Tigre” Gareca era in the Professional League: he thrashed Central Córdoba

Vélez Sarsfield thrashed Central Córdoba de Santiago del Estero 4-0 in the game that completed the eighth date of the Professional Soccer League, led by River Plate. The match was played at the José Amalfitani stadium and meant Ricardo Gareca’s first victory as coach.

Lucas Pratto opened the scoring after 17 minutes of the first half. Abiel Osorio, 8 minutes into the second half, scored the second for Gareca’s team; he followed after 29 minutes with the goal from Julián Fernández; and Gienluca Prestianni, at 48 minutes, completed the win.

Fortín reached 12 points. For “el Tigre” Gareca it was the second game in charge of Vélez, after his debut last Monday with a draw against Platense (1-1) in Liniers.

Central Córdoba came in a raised position, since after starting the championship with four rounds without winning, they had gone three without losing, with two wins and a draw, until Vélez easily beat them.
