Venezuelan Man Arrested for Assaulting Mother Over Alcohol Money
A 33-year-old man in Venezuela is facing charges of violence and injuries after allegedly attacking his mother when she refused to give him money to continue drinking. The incident, which occurred in the La Polar neighborhood of San Francisco municipality, Zulia state, highlights the devastating consequences of alcohol abuse and domestic violence.
The arrest was carried out by officials from the San Francisco Municipal Delegation of the Corps of Scientific, Criminal and Criminal Investigations (CICPC). The Public Ministry has been notified and is overseeing the prosecution.
According to reports, the man arrived at his mother’s home in a state of intoxication and demanded funds to purchase more alcoholic beverages. When his mother refused, a verbal altercation escalated into a physical assault.
“He proceeded to assault her verbally and physically in various parts of her body,” stated Commissioner Douglas Rico, director of the Cicpc, in a press release. The extent of the mother’s injuries has not been disclosed.
This case underscores the growing concern over family violence in Venezuela, often fueled by substance abuse. The CICPC continues to investigate the incident and gather evidence for the upcoming trial.
