“Venezuela exercises full sovereignty in its airspace, and reiterates that no aircraft coming from or heading to Argentina will be able to fly over our territory,” said Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yván Gil.

Adorni explained that The Caracas resolution is based on the case of the Boeing 747 airplane, of the Aerocargo del Sur Transport Company (Emtrasur)a subsidiary of the Venezuelan airline Conviasa, held by Argentina since 2022 and which was sent weeks ago to the United States.
Given this situation, according to Agencia EFE, Buenos Aires sent a note of protest on March 8 “due to the decision to suspend the overflight permits of Argentine airlines in Venezuelan airspace.”
Along these lines, it took measures before the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) for “violating the Convention on International Civil Aviation.”
For their part, Venezuela ratified the suspension and its connection with the situation of Emtrasur’s Boeing 747.
