Red Bull driver Max Vesthappan wins world title in Formula One race At the final lap of the crucial Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, Mercedes defeated driver Lewis Hamilton to clinch the title. This is the Dutchman’s first crown.
At the end of the 21st Grand Prix, Westhappan and Hamilton had 369.5 points each. Hamilton, who was with Michael Schumacher for seven titles, was expected to advance with eight titles. But on the last lap, the 24-year-old Vesthappan’s jump was decisive. Vesthappan scored 394.5 points. Hamilton 388.5.
