Veteran actor of Indian Bengali cinema Partha Sarathi Dev passed away. He breathed his last at a hospital in Kolkata at 11:50 PM IST on Friday (March 22). He was 68 years old.
According to Hindustan Times, Parthasarathy was suffering from breathing problems for a long time. Had a lung infection. He was admitted to the hospital for the past one month. He was being treated on ventilation in a critical condition since last week. He breathed his last on Friday night.
Actor Parthasarathy Dev was associated with the acting world for 40 years. Actor Parthasarathy Dev has worked in more than 200 movies including numerous TV serials. He also played an important role in the organization of artists in Tollywood. Parthasarathy Dev was the Vice President of ‘Artist Forum’ for a long time.
He was recently seen in the movie ‘Raktabij’ directed by Nandita Roy, Shivprasad Mukhopadhyay. His co-stars including Jayjit Banerjee and Rupanjana Mitra are devastated by his death.
Jayjit Banerjee wrote on his Facebook page, ‘A wonderful actor Parthasarathy Dev has passed away. Don’t talk about those days anymore, comrade.’
Actress Rapanjana Mitra herself posted a long post on Facebook about Parthasarathy Dev. Actress Rupanjana writes from Smriti’s page, “One of your films was being worked on at Purple Studio and our Anurag Khonkar shoot was going on…You came and met us yourself.., knowing that some artists you know are there, you came to watch our scene with your shots, this is it. About last month… we had a court scene.

In his personal life, the actor was married to Doordarshan makeup artist Vinita Dev Banerjee. They have a daughter. They have been bitter about that for a long time. Later, the two were legally separated. It is said that neither his ex-wife Vinita nor his daughter inquired about the actor’s illness. Actor Bapi Das was regularly taking care of Parthasarathy Dev’s medical affairs.
