When everything seemed like it was a quiet Friday in the city of Oaxaca, a sudden fire destroyed the Silver’s Vulcanizadora located on Eduardo Mata or Periférico avenue, between Prolongación de Melchor Ocampo and Fiallo. Firefighters managed to put out the conflagration after several minutes of work. To date, the causes of the accident are unknown.
THE SINISTER
According to the first police reports, the fire started around 9:00 a.m. Given the rapid spread of the flames, people from other nearby businesses joined in with fire extinguishers to try to put out the fire, but it was in vain and the fire began to voraciously consume the tires and other items that were in the workshop.
As best they could, the employees of the place, terrified, tried to remove the tires they could so that they would not be devoured by the flames that reached several meters high, beginning to melt the cables of the telephone and electrical system that pass through the place.
Immediately, elements of the Heroic Fire Department arrived at the scene and immediately began the work of putting out the fire. Then, after several minutes of intense work, they managed to put out the fire and proceeded to the cooling stage.
CHAOS AND PANIC
It should be noted that people neighboring the place where the conflagration occurred evacuated their homes and commercial premises as a preventive measure, while municipal police guarded the area to prevent people from approaching the place and the “smoke swallowers” from doing their work. Traffic was affected in both directions on Eduardo Mata Avenue and surrounding streets, generating great vehicular chaos.
Finally, the balance amounts to thousands of pesos, with no victims to regret. It is expected that the authorities will carry out the relevant investigations to determine the causes of the incident and determine responsibilities.
