The CBI on Monday arrested Videocon Group founder Venugopal Dutt in connection with the ICICI Bank loan scam.

In this regard, the CBI has said:

When Chanda Kochhar was the CEO of ICICI Bank, Rs 3,250 crore was given to Videocon group companies on behalf of the bank. The loan was given in violation of Banking Regulation Act, RBI guidelines and ICICI Bank’s credit policy.

In response to this, Videocon Group founder Venugopal Dhoot has invested Rs. 64 crores in Deepak Kochhar’s husband Deepak Kochhar’s Nubhav Renewables company.

In this regard, a case has been registered against Chanda Kochhar, Deepak Kochhar and Venugopal Dhoot under the Indian Penal Code and the Prevention of Corruption Act.

In this case, Chanda Kochhar and Deepak Kochhar were arrested last Friday as they did not cooperate with the investigation.

In this case, Venugopal Dhoot was interrogated on Monday in Mumbai, Maharashtra. Following this he was arrested.

It has been reported that it is planned to file a chargesheet in the court against all those involved in the case including this Moo.

CBI custody till tomorrow: The 3-day CBI custody of Chanda Kochhar and Deepak Kochhar ended on Monday. Subsequently, the CBI officials produced both of them in the special CBI court in Mumbai. Venugopal Dhoot was also invited along with them. The court approved remanding the three in CBI custody till Wednesday (Dec 28).
