Vienna Public Indecency Incident: Man Arrested After Exposing Himself and Assaulting Officer

A 34-year-old Austrian man was taken into custody on Thursday following an incident of public indecency and subsequent altercations with police in Vienna-Liesing. The man allegedly exposed himself to multiple individuals before resisting arrest and physically assaulting an officer.

A witness first observed the man behaving inappropriately while walking home. Initially hesitant to intervene, the witness contacted authorities after a second encounter where the man allegedly targeted two older individuals. “The witness was on her way home and saw the man with his pants unzipped following two women and wanting to show them his penis,” police stated. After observing the man again attempting to expose himself to two older people, the witness immediately contacted emergency services.

Upon arrival, officers encountered a non-cooperative suspect who provided multiple false names when asked to identify himself. The man was subsequently arrested and transported to a police station, where his behavior escalated. According to reports, he initially refused to exit the police vehicle and later struck an officer in the face with his fist while in the detention area. Fortunately, the officer sustained no injuries.

During interrogation, the man claimed to have consumed a “large amount of vodka” and had no recollection of the events. Despite his claims, the Vienna public prosecutor’s office ordered his detention and transfer to a prison facility.

The incident highlights the challenges law enforcement faces when dealing with individuals under the influence and underscores the importance of swift action from witnesses in protecting public safety. The investigation remains ongoing.
