The seventh edition of the Unilab Festival of Cultures is about to begin and, this time, it promises to be even more special. Organized by the Dean of Extension, Art and Culture (Proex), the event will take place from November 21st to 25th, with the theme “Art and Culture in Diversity: Democracy, Inclusion and Reconstruction”.

Check out the complete schedule.

This Tuesday (21), the event opens at 6:30 pm, at the Campus da Liberdade Amphitheater. Next, we will have the honor of welcoming the influential Brazilian artist CA CAU, known for his outstanding performance at the NGO Tapera das Artes, where he served as Artistic Director for a decade. CA CAU’s work promoted projects that combined research, popular culture and the arts, strengthening the education and citizenship of young people through contact with art. His management at the organization was recognized with awards, including the Criança Esperança Award and honorable mentions from the Itaú UNICEF Award. Furthermore, CA CAU took over the Secretariat of Culture of Aquiraz, reinforcing its commitment to local social and cultural development.

One of the changes this year was the introduction of a curatorship made up of teachers to select the festival’s attractions, which demonstrates the organization’s commitment to ensuring a diverse and high-quality program. The inclusion of curatorship also enriches the selection process, providing a specialized and careful view when choosing presentations.

Another highlight of this edition is the return of the “Festivalzinho das Culturas,” in partnership with Casa Encantada. The initiative aims to involve children in celebrating cultural diversity, promoting education and respect from an early age. It is a valuable opportunity to stimulate children’s interest in different cultures around the world.

Furthermore, the festival expanded its geographical borders. It will take place in São Francisco do Conde, in Bahia, and also in the cities of Redenção and Acarape, in Ceará, where it will have three stages – at the Campus da Liberdade Amphitheater, in the center of Redenção; at the Canafistula Railway Station, Antônio Diogo district, still in Redenção, and in the central square of Acarape. The objective is to expand the audience, enabling more people to experience different cultural manifestations.

The event also stands out for the support it offers to participating artists. With more than 500 registrations and an investment of R$60,000 in grants, the festival provides an important space for local and regional talent to showcase their skills and express their creative voices.

To make the Festival of Cultures a reality, the organization counts on the fundamental support of partners such as SESC Fecomércio, which contributes with several attractions, and SuperMercado Redenção, which assists with the accreditation of artists and in other areas. These partnerships demonstrate the community’s engagement in supporting and promoting cultural and artistic diversity.

Unilab’s VII Festival of Cultures promises to be an enriching celebration of diversity, democracy, inclusion and reconstruction. With a diverse program, support for local artists and the involvement of children in the “Festivalzinho das Culturas”, the event stands out as a space where different cultures meet, intertwine and strengthen each other, reinforcing the importance of art and culture in building a more inclusive and democratic society. Don’t miss the opportunity to be part of this unique celebration!
