Kanyakumari: An employee of a poultry shop in the Kollavankodu Medavilakam area on the Tamil Nadu-Kerala border in Kanyakumari district has been shocked to learn that a video of him slaughtering a live chicken in an attempt to harass it has spread on a social networking site.
In the video recorded on his mobile phone by a person who came to buy meat at this shop, the young man happily committed this atrocity with a very cruel smile without any remorse. In butcher shops it is customary to cut off the head of a chicken and then peel it and cut it into pieces. But the young man mercilessly looked at the mobile phone and smiled and showed this cruelty.

In these scenes, the hen is reported to be crying and beating while peeling the skin alive and cutting it into pieces. People in the area say he continues to commit this heinous crime here. This video has gone viral on social media. Many who have seen the video have expressed their displeasure and shared it on social networking sites asking the police to arrest the perpetrator immediately.
The incident has caused a great stir on the Kumari border. Following the virality of the video, Kollankodu police have arrested Manu (36), a resident of Sengavilai on the Tamil Nadu-Kerala border, under the Animal Welfare Act.
