This is the first time in his two consecutive years since making his international debut that Kohli has failed to score a century. Kohli, who made his debut in 2008, failed to score a century that year but went on to score consecutive centuries until 2019. In 2017 and 2018 alone, 22 centuries were born from Kohli’s bat.
In 2021, Kohli played 24 matches in three formats and scored 964 runs at an average of 37.07. Despite scoring 10 fifties this year, Kohli has been out for zero five times this year. Last year, Kohli scored 842 runs in 22 matches at an average of 36.60.
In 2019, Kohli scored his last century in the Pink Ball Test against Bangladesh. Kohli, who has scored 70 centuries in 446 matches, is the third highest scorer in international cricket after Tendulkar with 100 and Ponting with 71.

India won the first match of the Test series against South Africa by a huge margin. India defeated the hosts by 113 runs.
