VK will create its own network of data processing centers (DPC). In addition to the Pakhra data center in Domodedovo, the launch of which the company announced for the fourth quarter of 2023, VK is going to build two more of its own centers in the Moscow region, a source close to the company told Vedomosti. The information was also confirmed by an interlocutor in a company providing cloud storage services. According to one of the interlocutors, the company plans to invest in cloud infrastructure in St. Petersburg as well. Currently, VK is completing the procedure for purchasing land for construction. The company will start commissioning new data centers in 2025, he knows.
Now VK uses the rental capacity of third-party providers and the capacity of two of its own data centers in St. Petersburg and Moscow for a total of 1,200 racks, a company representative told Vedomosti. He did not deny or confirm the information about plans to build new data centers.
