The promotion of the equality of LGBTI+ people – participation in a National Strategy, is one of the action programs included in the plan of the Ministry of Education for 2024.

The plan and schedule

In a multi-page text, the Ministry of Education outlines the plan and schedule for the actions it has planned for the current year for students, schools and teachers. The program includes a number of actions such as:

Training program and educational material for teachers and education staff to prevent and combat violence – Program Filia with explicit reference to homophobia and transphobia, as well as to the management of issues of sexual orientation, expression, identity and gender characteristics of students, teachers and family members structures, with clarification of LGBTI+ terminology [ΕΣΔ ΛΟΑΤΚΙ+]. 2. Allowance of 300 euros for high school students. A financial support program for children’s sports that gives the opportunity to students of the 1st grade of high school to register in Sports Clubs of their choice, strengthening developmental sports, is provided for in the new action plan of the Ministry of Education for 2024. The annual action plan for the Primary, Secondary and Tertiary Education prepared by the Ministry of Education, its horizontal objectives are formulated and linked to strategic choices of government programming. In particular, for Secondary Education, the planning of the Ministry of Education for 2024 foresees a “SportPass” Voucher for Sports. Population of 1st grade students of the High School: 100,000 students. Potentially eligible students with family income criteria: 35,000 students. Voucher amount: €300.

Training of 50,000 teachers
