Wagner group fighting in support of Russia in Ukraine – Wagner letter to the US White House

As the United States has declared Russia’s Wagner group a “transnational criminal organization,” the Wagner chief has written to the White House.

As the United States announced new sanctions against the Wagner group fighting in support of Russia in Ukraine, a letter from the Wagner leader asked, “Can you clarify what your group did wrong?” As the question has been raised.

The US had already imposed restrictions on trade with Wagner in 2017.

Notably, the European Union imposed sanctions in December 2021 on Wagner, which has forces in Syria, Libya, the Central African Republic, Sudan, Mozambique, Mali and currently Ukraine.
