Actress Ming-Na Wen kisses her new Hollywood star

Ming-Na Wen is known from series such as “Emergency Room” and “The Mandalorian” and as the voice of Disney heroine “Mulan”. The actress unveiled her star plaque on the famous Walk of Fame.

The US actress Ming-Na Wen (59, “Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD”) celebrated her recently unveiled star plaque in Hollywood. In the flashbulbs of the photographers, she fell to the ground on Tuesday (local time) at the unveiling ceremony and kissed the star. The actress, also known from series such as “Emergency Room” and “The Mandalorian”, was immortalized with the 2757th plaque on the famous Walk of Fame.

Guest speakers included Wen’s co-stars Tamlyn Tomita, Lauren Tom and Rosalind Chao from the feature film Daughters of Heaven (1993). Among the guests were “Jurassic World” star Bryce Dallas Howard and James Hong (94, “Everything Everywhere All at Once”), who last year was the oldest actor to receive a star on Hollywood Boulevard.

Born in Macau, Wen came to the United States with her family when she was a toddler. After studying acting and performing in theaters, she took part in numerous films and TV series from the late 1980s. She also lent her voice to the iconic Disney titular character “Mulan” in the 1998 animated film.

There are still many more Asian talents to be inscribed on the Walk of Fame, Wen said in her acceptance speech. Living with her name in the US and making a career was really difficult, the actress said. But she resisted adopting an English name. Anyone who can pronounce “Arnold Schwarzenegger” can also say “Ming-Na Wen”. She thanked her mother, who came to the United States from China as a single parent with two small children and made the “American dream” possible for the family.
