Wallboxa company specialized in electric vehicle chargershas signed a syndicated loan 35 million euros which will allow it to undertake investments, mainly, in its factories in the Barcelona Free Zone and of Sant Boi de Llobregatas well as in the United States.
The company, listed in New York, reports in a statement that EBN Banco is the main entity that has granted this loan, in which the Official Credit Institute also participates (ICO), the Catalan Institute of Finance (ICF), Cofides and MoraBanc.
With a maturity of five years, this loan has two lines of financing.
Two lines of financing
On the one hand, 30 million for “strategic sustainable investments”, contributed by EBN Banco, ICO, ICF and Cofides: essentially, for the manufacture of the Supernova fast charger and the Quasar 2 bidirectional charger, but also to automate the logistics of the manufacturing plant. the Free Zone.
At the same time, Wallbox will use part of this first line of financing to expand its factory in Sant Boi de Llobregat (Barcelona), focused on printed circuits, and to build a new assembly line.
The second line of financing, of five million, is provided by Cofides to undertake the already planned expansion of the Arlington (Texas, United States) plant, through five new assembly lines to manufacture Supernova 180 and Hypernova ultra-fast chargers and for the aforementioned Quasar 2.
“Accelerate the strategic plan”
“The resources obtained will allow us to continue improving our industrial operations both in Spain and in the United States, one of the aspects that make our company stronger,” said the co-founder and CEO of the firm, Enric Asuncion.
The financial director, Jordi Lainzhas stressed that with this loan Wallbox will be able to “accelerate the strategic plan and maintain its leadership position in the electric mobility sector in the company’s key markets”, while managing to “strengthen its financial position”.
