Local officials recognize the critical role foreign workers play in sustaining Wanju-gun’s economic vitality. The county is proactively addressing potential labor shortages and a declining population by incentivizing skilled foreign nationals to establish long-term roots in the community. Details of the ‘Region-Based Visa Upgrade Support Project’
The ‘region-based visa upgrade support project’ aligns with broader national policies spearheaded by the Ministry of Justice and Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province. The program specifically targets individuals who convert their residency status to either skilled worker (E-7-4) visas or regionally specialized visas (F-2-R) after January 1, 2025.
To qualify for the one-time subsidy of 300,000 won (approximately $230 USD), applicants must demonstrate continuous residency in Wanju-gun for at least one month following their visa change. The county plans to support a total of 17 individuals through this program in the current cycle.
Application Process and Timeline
Interested applicants, or their designated representatives, must apply in person by December 18th. Applications will be accepted at the Population Policy and Foreigner Policy Team of the Wanju County Office and the Wanju Foreigner Support Center. This in-person requirement ensures direct engagement and assistance throughout the application process.
