High alert for a fire near the Crimean bridge. “Mega fire in a fuel depot”
A fuel depot caught fire overnight in the Russian village of Volna, near the bridge to the annexed Crimea peninsula. “A tank with petroleum products caught fire in the village of Volna in Temryuksky district,” Krasnodar governor Krai Veniamin Kondratyev said on Telegram, without citing the cause of the accident. “According to initial information, there were no deaths or injuries,” he added. “Everything is being done to prevent the fire from spreading further.”
Volna lies at the end of the Kerch Strait Bridge, which connects Russia with the Crimea peninsula annexed by Moscow in 2014. Last October, the bridge was damaged by a truck bomb, in an attack Moscow blamed on the Ukraine, although Kiev has denied attacking the infrastructure.
The Ria Novosti agency informs that the area of the fire has reached 1,200 square meters. 23 units of fire fighting vehicles and 85 people were involved in fighting the fire. The fire was given the highest degree of difficulty, writes Ria Novosti again.
