In an interview with RIA Novosti, Lavrov indicated that if the American side wanted to end the conflict in Ukraine, they could achieve that by stopping the supply of weapons to the Kiev regime and ordering a ceasefire.
He said: “Of course, the new administration has all the necessary means of influence, as well as the current one, and it must use them towards itself and towards its followers in Kiev, if Washington wanted to end the conflict. he would stop arms supplies to Kiev, he demanded of his followers to do so, and ordered his agents… Kiev called for a ceasefire, resumed the negotiation process without conditions, and he canceled Zelensky’s decree that prohibited himself from negotiating with the Russian leadership.”
The minister emphasized that Russia is ready to negotiate to resolve the situation in Ukraine, but that the root causes of the crisis should be eliminated and the situation “on the ground” should be taken into account.
Lavrov recalled that President Vladimir Putin clearly defined Russia’s approach to the resolution of the conflict on Ukraine, in his speech at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia on June 14, as well as during the press conference held on December 19.
He said: “There was talk of demilitarizing and cleansing Ukraine of Nazism, ensuring its status as a non-aligned, neutral and nuclear-weapon-free state, and ending long-term threats to Russia’s security coming from the West, including the expansion. of NATO.
