The Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas attacked Israel in order, among other things, to undermine talks aimed at normalizing relations between the Jewish state and Saudi Arabia, US President Joe Biden said.

More than a thousand people demonstrated Friday in Montevideo, capital of Uruguay, in solidarity with the Palestinian people, as Israel continues its bombing of the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip in response to unprecedented attacks carried out by the Palestinian Islamist movement on October 7.

Demonstrations took place Friday in several Arab countries in support of the Palestinian cause, on the thirteenth day of a deadly war between Israel and Hamas. US President Joe Biden estimated that after road repairs, “the first 20 trucks” of humanitarian aid would enter Gaza “in the next 24 to 48 hours”. Two American hostages held by Hamas have been released and arrived in Israel.

According to information from France 24 collected from a European military source, the explosion which struck the Ahli Arab hospital in Gaza was due to a botched shot launched from the enclave.
