The women’s 3X3 basketball team opened today (Tuesday) the Belgian World Cup campaign with two disappointing losses. The first game ended in a disappointing 17:11 loss to the Netherlands, and later in the evening Ilan Kowselki’s players suffered a heavy 22: 5 defeat against Canada. Now, Israel will have to win the two games it has left in the home stage to leave themselves a chance to advance to the next stage.
In the first game, Daniel Reber was the most prominent scorer in the national team with 5 points, to which she added 4 rebounds. Hadar Hadad finished with 3 points, Tzlil and Tori with 2, and Alex Hacohen, who was the leading scorer in the national team qualifiers in the European Championship qualifiers that took place a few weeks ago, recorded a quiet performance with a single point and 3 rebounds.
The second game was much less competitive. The Canadians dictated the pace from the first moment of the game, and did not give the Israelis a shred of hope for victory. Cohen and Verber scored 2 points each, Hadad added another point.
At the same time tonight, the basketball reserve team gave hope for the continuation, after they managed to beat Finland 70:76 in a preparatory game. Jordan Gerzon was the best in the national team and provided a great statistical line – 23 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists. Eden Tzipel almost finished with a double double and provided 17 points and 9 rebounds.
