US President Joe Biden informed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, “that the United States will not participate in any counterattack on Iran, if Israel decides to respond.”

According to Reuters, John Kirby, chief national security spokesman at the White House, said: “The United States will continue to support Israel in defending itself, but it does not want war with Iran.”

Kirby added: “As the president has said many times, we are not seeking a broader war in the region, and we are not seeking a war with Iran, and I think I will leave it at that.”

He said: “We do not seek to escalate tensions in the region, and we do not want the scope of the conflict to expand.”

In addition, French President Emmanuel Macron said, “France will do everything in its power to avoid further escalation in the conflict between Israel and Iran in the Middle East.”

“We are all concerned about the potential escalation of the conflict in the Middle East,” Macron said.

For his part, according to Reuters, British Foreign Secretary David Cameron urged “Israel not to respond after the Iranian bombing.”

Iran launched hundreds of drones and missiles at Israel on Saturday evening in response to an Israeli bombing of the Iranian consulate in Syria on April 1.
