This month of June promises to be full of promise with the release of highly anticipated new series such as The Days which recounts the Fukushima nuclear disaster or even The Idol, sulphurous series with Lily-Rose Depp and The Weeknd. It is also the return of series very appreciated by the public like Black Mirror et Young and golri.
“The Days”: the biggest nuclear disaster of the 21st century
On March 11, 2011, a magnitude 9.0 earthquake struck the east coast of Japan. An hour later, a 15-meter high tsunami engulfed the Fukushima nuclear power plant. The beginning of a nightmare which remains to this day the greatest nuclear disaster of the 21st century.
Based on careful research, the series The Days from Netflix, looks back on what happened on the day of the disaster. What decisions were made? What consequences could have been avoided? The series confronts three points of view: that of the government, the companies and the people on the spot who risked their lives.
The Days is developed and produced by Jun Masumoto (to whom we owe successes such as the series Code Blue) and Hadashi no Gen. It consists of eight episodes. With this series, Netflix hopes to obtain the same success as with Chernobyl, the series produced by HBO.

“The Idol” : le pire d’Hollywood
Presented at the Cannes Film Festival, The Idolthe new series from Sam Levinson, creator ofEuphoria, caused a sensation even before its release. Last March, the magazine Rolling Stone had published an investigation evoking one shoot at a time “chaotic and out of control“with in particular the hasty departure of director Amy Seimetz.
The Idol tells the toxic relationship between Jocelyn, international pop star played by Lily-Rose Depp and Tedros (The Weeknd), a nightclub boss, who turns out to be the guru of a cult. Its creator presents the series as “Hollywood’s most sordid love story”.

“Secret Invasion” : un nouvel opus Marvel
The fans of the universe were impatiently awaiting it, the new Marvel series: Secret Invasion lands on Disney+ on June 21. ATfter several years spent in exile, Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson), returns to Earth. His mission: to save humanity from the invasion of the Skrulls, aliens capable of changing their appearance. To help him, he can count on his lifelong comrades: Everett Ross (Martin Freeman) and Maria Hill (Cobie Smulders).
This mini-series will also be an opportunity to discover new characters like G’iah, the daughter of Talos (Emilia Clarke) or special agent Sonya Falsworth (Olivia Colman). Composed of six episodes, this new Marvel opus promises to be darker than the previous ones.

“Jeune & Golri”: the return of the buddy movie
The sparkling series Young and Golri returns for a season 2 on OCS. The opportunity to find the joyful and immature Prune (Agnès Hurstel), now in her thirties. While Prune and her daughter-in-law Alma finally spin the perfect friendship, Francis fucks everything up by leaving Prune. How will she live this forced separation? how to leave when it took us eight years to know and love each other?
The series written and directed by Agnès Hurstel brings together several comedians such as Marie Papillon, Lison Daniel, Nordine Ganso and Jonathan Lambert. Last year, Young and Golri had been crowned best French series at the Series Mania festival in Lille.

“Black Mirror”: a promising sixth season
Another highly anticipated release: season 6 of Black Mirror on the Netflix platform. Ia famous dystopian series returns after three years of absence. DFrom Salma Hayek to Aaron Paul to Kate Mara, this new season features an impressive cast.
As for the storyline of the episodes, that still remains a mystery. We still imagine new scary stories about the abuses of our relationship to new technologies. Especially since it is Charlie Brooker, the creator of the show, who is writing.

“The Crowded Room” : Tom Holland en guest
For this month of June, Apple TV+ offers us a psychological thriller, The Crowded room, Inspired by a True Story. Danny Sullivan, played by Tom Holland, is arrested following a shooting in New York in 1979. Through a series of interrogations, we learn more about the mysterious past of the character. The investigator Rya Goodwin (Amanda Seyfried) will notably help him make shocking discoveries.
This mini-series, directed by Kornel Mundruczo, comprend ten episodes. For Tom Holland, The Crowded Room marks the second collaboration with Apple TV+, after the film Cherry.

“Countrymen”: a funny Norwegian series
In Norway, three Islamist terrorists secretly settle in a farm to make a bomb. But it doesn’t quite go as planned. The inhabitants of the village want them to get their hands dirty. Series Countrymen d’Arte plays with the absurd and questions us: whose stranger are we really?
Last year, the series received the special prize for interpretation and the prize for high school students for the best long series at the Canneseries festival.

“The Walking Dead : The Dead City” : un nouveau spin-off
Series The Walking Dead is entitled to a new spin-off on OCS. With six episodes, The Walking Dead : The Dead City will focus on two iconic characters from the original series, Negan and Maggie. In this fiction, they will have to face a new threat in a post-apocalyptic Manhattan.
Showrunner Eli Jorne was assisted by the essential Scott Gimple to direct the six episodes of this new spin-off.

“Saint X”: a mysterious disappearance
Claire is seven years old when her big sister Allison disappears on the last night of a family vacation on the Caribbean island of Saint X. A few days later, the teenager’s body is found. Two men are arrested, but will be quickly released. Finally, the investigation gets bogged down, making mourning impossible.
Years later, Claire has grown up and searches for answers about her sister’s death. A quest that will not be without danger. Saint X is an adaptation of the eponymous novel by Alexis Schaitkin published in 2020. Composed of eight episodes, it will be available on Disney+ from June 7.

“Star trek: Strange New Worlds”: a highly anticipated new season
A second season eagerly awaited by fans: that of the series Star Trek : Strange New Worlds on Paramount+. This one takes place during the years when Captain Christopher Pike (Anson mount) leads the USS Enterprise. With his crew, they must face increasingly important stakes, explore unknown territories and meet new civilizations.
This new season will also see the return of guest star Paul Wesley as James T. Kirk and the arrival of Carol Kane in a recurring role, that of Pelia.
