What do you see tonight: it’s less “survival” and more “Baal Zovov”

by time news

There are some things that we have come to expect from a season of “Survivor”, whether in Israel or (better) abroad: men and women in minimal clothing, sun, water, silly tasks and far-fetched elimination ceremonies. Here comes “Outlast”, the new survival reality show on Netflix and throws the All these expectations are out the window. This is a crueler, tougher, colder show (literally) and with much less involvement of the production – at least that is visible. There is no playing with tribes and figurines and whatever. What is there? Oh. Something in between “The Hunger Games” to “Baal Zevub”, and with quite a bit of DNA from survival programs like Discovery’s “Alone” or “Naked and Afraid”.

The competition goes like this: 16 contestants, most of them with one or another experience in American-style survival – that is, very tough, serious men and women, who like to do things like hunt with a bow and arrow, probably have an impressive collection of guns, a generator and there is a very good chance that they voted Trump and also believe in a conspiracy or two – gather in Alaska. They have to divide into groups of four, and from there just…survive. in nature It’s just that they can, at any given moment, abandon their groups, form others, whatever they want. Apart from that, there are no rules, challenges or rejections and they can withdraw at any moment they want, with the only condition being that the survivors (and most of the serious players in the show are those who would probably prefer to manage alone and don’t really get along with other people) cannot be entitled to the big prize (million dollar) if they are alone.

The result is addictive, disturbing and most importantly, includes bears (we are in Alaska after all). And yes, the forming groups begin to sabotage each other relatively quickly. Did we promise you “Baal Zovov” or what?
