Ravi Shastri, who was the head coach of the Indian team, resigned as coach after the recent T20 World Cup series. Following that, he is currently sharing many things about his work in the Indian team and his experience with the team. Ravi Shastri has expressed his views on how Bumra made his debut in the Indian team in that regard.
As he puts it: I was determined to introduce Jaspreet Bhumra in South Africa. I have also informed my decision to Captain Virat Kohli and the selectors in advance. I asked him not to introduce Bumra in Test matches in India and not to take him even in the 15-man squad.

I was told that his debut match should be in South Africa. I also phoned Bharath Arun as the bowling coach and told him that Bumra was ready for the South African series and that he needed to play there. He then reported the matter to Bumra. Ravi Shastri said on the TV show that he was introduced directly in South Africa accordingly.
Bumra, who made his debut on South African soil, took seven wickets in the first two matches but took five wickets in the third Test he played to help India win. He has played in 25 Tests and has taken 103 wickets so far. It is noteworthy that he has taken five wickets 6 times.

It is also noteworthy that most of the wickets taken by Jaspreet Bhumra came from foreign soil and he has taken only a few wickets on Indian soil. To that extent Pumra is currently emerging as a leading fast bowler in international cricket.
