Bangladesh: New Government Sworn In, Concerns Rise About Hindu Safety
New Delhi: Mohammad Yunus was sworn in as the head of Bangladesh’s interim government on August 12th. The move comes following a coup in the country, and reports of atrocities against Hindus have emerged.
BJP MP Anurag Thakur raised the issue in the Lok Sabha, expressing concern and targeting Rahul Gandhi. He argued that Prime Minister Modi had raised the issue of Hindu safety with the interim government, while Gandhi had remained silent.
“What was the compulsion that Rahul Gandhi did not take the name of Hindus? He talks big about Gaza but did not say anything on this issue,” Thakur said.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Yunus on his appointment and expressed hope for the restoration of peace and the protection of minorities, including Hindus.
“My best wishes to Professor Mohammad Yunus. We hope that normalcy will soon be restored and the safety of Hindus and all other minority communities will be ensured,” Modi wrote on Instagram.
Opposition leader Rahul Gandhi also congratulated Yunus, emphasizing the need for peace and normalcy.
