Thiruvananthapuram: Transport Minister Antony Raju has said that even a minister has lost his post for flouting the Constitution. The minister’s response was by referring to former minister Saji Cherian. The minister said that the country has survived after independence because of the constitution. Antony Raju was inaugurating the Constitution Day celebrations organized by the Institute of Parliamentary Affairs.

When a minister touched the constitution, he later became an ex-minister. Therefore, he cannot touch it. Constitution is the reason India exists today.

PDT Achari, former secretary general of the Lok Sabha, said that getting closer between religion and politics would threaten the secular outlook. If India becomes a religious nation it will lead to destruction. He pointed out that politics has no religion and no religion should be promoted.
