Since July 1 of this year, the General Directorate of Traffic eliminated the mandatory use of emergency triangles to signal an incident on highways and highways. He even recommends itinstead of placing the safety triangles.

The measure has been taken after the increase in the number of accidents on this type of road, given that the majority of these accidents occur when, after an incident, the occupants of the vehicle leave the passenger compartment to place the emergency triangles and signal the situation to the rest of the road users.

Thus, until last summer, in the event of an incident on a highway or highway, drivers could choose between using the safety triangles or placing the V-16 sign on the vehicle to make themselves visible. However, currently only emergency beacons should be used.

And before this, it is worth remembering that there are different models of light beacons with connectivity, such as Help Flash IoT, which are marketed alongside analogue ones, generating confusion among drivers, who do not know which model to purchase and which will be mandatory from 2026.

However, although both analog and connected V-16s can currently be used, only the latter will be valid and mandatory from January 1, 2026. Analog emergency lights that have been on the market for several years and triangles, can only be used until December 31, 2025.
