Chennai: The state government has selected 4 locations to set up a second airport in Chennai, according to the Ministry of Civil Aviation.

When asked about this, Transport Minister Jyotiraditya Cynthia told the Lok Sabha that the central government has formulated a policy to build an environmentally friendly airport. For this, the state government and the airport authorities have to select the places.

The feasibility of building an airport at that location should be explored. The application was sent to the Federal Ministry of Civil Aviation to build the airport at the selected location. The application has been sent for the approval of the Steering Committee.
