Military police officer Vaneza Lobão was killed with rifle shots outside her home on Friday night (24), in Santa Cruz, in the west zone of Rio de Janeiro. Vaneza was 31 years old and worked as a corporal. She was assigned to the 8th Military Judiciary Police Station, a sector dedicated to investigating paramilitary groups and misdemeanors. The governor of Rio, Cláudio Castro, confirmed that Vaneza may have suffered reprisals for working in the sector that investigates militias. According to initial information, the men were hooded inside a black car, and were waiting for the police officer to open the garage at home. When she approached, they shot at the vehicle and fled. On social media, Vaneza’s sister wrote that she also died and that, if she could, she would give her own life for her. Other people and relatives also mourned the death of the corporal, who had almost 2 thousand followers on Facebook. Vaneza had been with the PM since 2013, and her death was mourned by the corporation. Her body will be buried this Sunday (26).
