How commissions are arranged at a point of sale

Now the pricing and commissions of sellers when paying for goods with a card are arranged so that the client himself, buying goods with a card, does not pay any additional commissions for it. This is done by the merchant – the bank charges an acquiring commission from him. But the size of its main component – the interbank commission, or interchain – is set by the payment systems. Interchanging is a commission that the bank servicing the merchant (acquirer) transfers to the issuing bank whose card was used to pay. Issuers use income from interchanging to develop card products, pay bonuses and cashbacks, etc. Interchanging may depend on the type of merchant or card used to pay off, on average in the market it is 0.3–2.35%. The higher it is, the more expensive it is for the merchant to service the card. The SBP commissions for sellers are below market and are regulated by the Central Bank – the seller directly pays the bank from 0.4 to 0.7%, depending on the category of goods.
