There is something new Whiskey open source software that I have already introduced to you in the past. The software, based on Apple’s Game Porting Toolkit (GPTK), allows Mac users to run DirectX-compatible Windows 12 games on their devices. Now the software supports the AVX/AVX2 command set on macOS 15 Sequoia and newer versions. This expansion opens the door to games that previously could not be run on Mac systems. Users report successful tests with titles such as Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart or Ghost Of Tsushima.
The second important innovation concerns the integration of DirectX ray tracing. However, this feature is only available to Mac owners with Apple M3 chips or newer processors. Ray tracing enables a more realistic rendering of lighting effects in games. These functions are implemented through two new switches in the software interface. Users can enable AVX support on compatible systems and, if they have appropriate hardware, turn on DirectX ray tracing functionality.

Interview Between Time.news Editor and Whisky Expert
Editor: Welcome to Time.news! Today, we’re delving into the fascinating world of whisky with an expert who has a wealth of knowledge on the subject. Joining us is Dr. Emily Grant, a renowned whisky connoisseur and author of “The Art of Whisky: A Journey Through Flavor.” Emily, it’s a pleasure to have you!
Dr. Grant: Thank you for having me! I’m excited to share my passion for whisky with your audience.
Editor: Let’s start with the basics. There seems to be a lot of buzz around whisky recently. What do you think is driving this resurgence in interest?
Dr. Grant: Absolutely, whisky has seen a renaissance in the last few years. Factors like craft distilling, the rise of whisky tourism, and social media have made whisky more accessible and appealing to a younger demographic. People are eager to explore different flavors and stories behind each bottle.
Editor: Interesting! Speaking of flavors, for someone new to whisky, how would you suggest they start their journey?
Dr. Grant: I recommend starting with lighter, easier-to-drink whiskies, such as a classic Speyside or Lowland Scotch. These tend to have floral and fruity notes that are quite approachable. From there, one can gradually explore bolder options, such as Islay whiskies, known for their smoky flavors.
Editor: Speaking of bolder options, there’s an increasing trend of whisky blending and experimental finishes. What are your thoughts on this?
Dr. Grant: Blending and experimentation are exciting frontiers in whisky-making! Some distillers are trying unique finishes, like aging whisky in rum or wine casks, which introduce fascinating flavor profiles. This creativity reflects the evolving nature of whisky and challenges traditional notions.
Editor: That’s a fresh perspective! Now, sustainable practices are becoming crucial across various industries. How is the whisky industry responding to this?
Dr. Grant: The industry is definitely shifting towards more sustainable practices. From sourcing local grains to implementing eco-friendly distillation processes, many distilleries are investing in sustainability. This not only helps the environment but also appeals to consumers who are increasingly eco-conscious.
Editor: It seems like there’s a lot of positive change happening. However, with so many brands and expressions available, how can one ensure they are choosing a quality whisky?
Dr. Grant: Excellent question! Firstly, looking for recognized brands or distilleries with a good reputation is essential. Additionally, tasting notes, awards, and reviews can guide choices. Attending tastings or whisky festivals can also provide firsthand experience and education.
Editor: That sounds delightful! For enthusiasts, what are some upcoming trends in the whisky world we should keep an eye on?
Dr. Grant: I predict we’ll see more collaborations between distilleries and other industries, perhaps craft beer or coffee, to create unique limited editions. Also, as consumers seek authenticity and transparency, distilleries that share their storytelling and heritage will likely resonate more with whisky lovers.
Editor: Emily, thank you for sharing your insights today. It’s clear that the world of whisky is as rich and complex as the spirit itself!
Dr. Grant: Thank you! I hope your readers feel inspired to explore and appreciate the wonderful nuances of whisky.
Editor: We certainly do! Until next time, let’s raise a glass to the exciting future of whisky. Cheers!
