Xiaomi suddenly becomes one of the great protagonists of this edition of the Mobile World Congress (MWC 2024) when presenting his family’s new mobile phones internationally this Sunday in the city of Barcelona Xiaomi 14 Seriesthe Asian manufacturer’s big bet to carve out a niche in the premium category, with its camera, performance and battery as its main weapons.

Under the motto ‘Lens to legend’, focusing on its innovative camera – which it develops together with the photography giant Leica –Xiaomi has shown confidence in the potential of these two new smartphones for take market share from Apple and Samsung in the highest-end terminalsthe category that Xiaomi has yet to conquer, which has already established itself as the first brand in volume of units sold in Spain.
The Ultra model: in search of the perfect camera
Xiaomi 14 Ultra is a camera that also doubles as a mobile phone, without this statement being derogatory. It doesn’t limp in any of the standout specs – screen, battery or performance – but its camera outshines everything else. This is the most versatile set of lenses that the company has ever proposed, with a circular module that includes four lenses with 50 MP sensors, two of them angular and two telephoto lenses.
Specifically, this terminal has a main camera with a one-inch sensor, a focal length of 23 mm and an aperture of f/1.62, which gives it great luminosity; a 12mm wide angle f/1.8 (with which you can also take photos in Macro mode) and a double telephoto lens: one 75 mm floating and another 120 mm periscopic (3x and 5x zooms, respectively).
In order to fully enjoy this photographic experience, the performance of the mobile phone is also important, which in this case has the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, and a screen to match. Here we talk about a 6.67-inch AMOLED Liquid Display panel, with an adaptive refresh rate that reaches 120 Hz and a luminosity that reaches a peak of 3000 nitswhich will allow you to see the results of the photographs clearly even when the sun hits the screen directly.
Regarding the recording of video, reaches a quality of 8K at 30 fps (on all its lenses) and 4K 60 fps on its main camera, in addition to improving its stabilization system, also incorporating a cinematic mode that will make the shots even more spectacular thanks to a predefined color balance at the software level. So that users can record video and take photos without worrying about the autonomy of this mobile, Xiaomi incorporates a 5000 mAh battery and offers 90W fast chargingwhich promises 100% charging in 31 minutes (the charger is included in the box on both models).
The Xiaomi 14 is committed to balance
The entry model, Xiaomi 14, is not far behind in terms of specifications and will – with certainty – be the option chosen by many fans of the brand for its quality-price ratio. In addition, it goes on sale with a launch offer in Spain (available until March 18) that includes a tablet Xiaomi Pad 6, valued at 399 euros, as a gift.
The youngest brother of the family arrives with a 6.36-inch screen, which allows easy grip, also thanks to its 8.2 mm thickness and 193 grams of weight. Share with the Ultra model your adaptive refresh rate up to 120 Hz, maximum brightness of 3,000 nits and its 90W fast charging systemalthough in this case it mounts a slightly smaller battery, with 4610 mAh. Wireless charging, for its part, reaches 50W, compared to 80W for the Xiaomi 14 Ultra.
As far as cameras are concerned, it is moving towards the new generation of lenses co-designed with Leica, called Summilux, which provides an extra point of luminosity by allowing you to achieve a aperture f/1.6. In a square camera module, it incorporates three lenses with the following characteristics: a 50 MP 23mm main; a telephoto lens with a focal length of 75mm; and a wide angle (14mm). Added to all this is a new image sensor, Light Fusion 900.
Finally, Xiaomi did not want to miss the opportunity to expand its ecosystem of products and takes advantage of this event, within the framework of the most important telephone fair in the world, to announce the launch of the update of its most popular activity bracelet with Xiaomi Smart Band 8and their new smart watches: Xiaomi Watch 2 y Xiaomi Watch S3which will also soon reach the European market.
This strategy based on the product ecosystem will soon have a new member: the brand’s first electric car, Xiaomi SU7, which fans of the brand hope to see in person at this edition of the MWC. Under the Xiaomi HyperOS operating system and with a much more ambitious approach, summarized in the ‘Human x Car x Home’ concept, Xiaomi seeks to guarantee a 360º connection of all connected devices, with the car as “a crucial component.”
