Wizards of the Coast Launches Four Magic: The Gathering | Star Trek Commander Decks on November 13, 2026

Four preconstructed Magic: The Gathering | Star Trek Commander decks, featuring characters like the Borg Queen and Worf, will launch on November 13, 2026, with new mechanics like Battlefront and Seek Out.

Wizards of the Coast is uniting universes with the release of Magic: The Gathering | Star Trek Commander decks, set for November 13, 2026. The collection includes four preconstructed decks—Federation Fleet, Landing Party, Klingon Fury, and We Are the Borg—each tied to a specific Star Trek faction and led by characters like Jean-Luc Picard, Spock, Worf, and the Borg Queen. Each deck contains 32 new-to-Magic cards, traditional and surge foil variants, and unique mechanics designed for the Commander format.

Battlefront and Seek Out Mechanics Unveiled

The Star Trek Commander decks introduce two novel mechanics tailored for the 100-card multiplayer format. Battlefront, featured in the Klingon Fury deck led by Worf, triggers based on the number of opponents attacked in a turn. Worf’s ability allows players to exile cards from their library, scaling with aggression. Seek Out, central to the Federation Fleet deck led by Picard, activates when a player draws their second card each turn, enabling actions like adding counters to creatures or spacecraft. These mechanics aim to modernize Commander strategies, with Polygon noting their potential to influence future sets.

The Borg Queen’s deck, part of the We Are the Borg faction, introduces the Assimilate mechanic. The deck also includes mechanics that grant all artifact creatures you control +2/+2. Polygon highlighted details on these mechanics.

Deck Details and Collector’s Editions

Each Commander deck includes a traditional foil face commander with borderless art, 99 non-foil cards (including 32 new-to-Magic cards), and 10 non-foil double-sided tokens, plus a reference card and a deck box. The Collector’s Edition variants reissue all 100 cards in surge foil at roughly double the price. The Federation Fleet deck, led by Picard, emphasizes card draw and Spacecraft, charging starships with station, while the Klingon Fury deck focuses on attacking every opponent at once and getting stronger for doing it.

Star Trek Commander Deck Reveal – WE ARE THE BORG

The Landing Party deck, featuring Spock, uses landfall and a lands-matter plan, and the We Are the Borg deck prioritizes assimilating opposing creatures and turning them into Borg artifacts. Decklists for each of the revealed Commander decks can be found and browsed once revealed in the Magic: The Gathering | Star Trek Card Image Gallery. Preorders are already available from your local game store, TCGplayer, Amazon, and elsewhere Magic is sold, with the main set releasing alongside the Commander decks.

The four decks feature distinct color identities and strategies. Federation Fleet, led by Jean-Luc Picard, uses white-blue-red colors and focuses on card draw and Spacecraft. Landing Party, led by Spock, employs green-white-blue and landfall and a lands-matter plan. Klingon Fury, led by Worf, uses red-white-black and emphasizes attacking every opponent at once and getting stronger for doing it. We Are the Borg, led by the Borg Queen, utilizes white-blue-black and Assimilate mechanics. Each deck includes a traditional foil commander with borderless art, 32 new-to-Magic cards, and 10 non-foil double-sided tokens.
