What’s Next for Kiner?
Kiner was founded by local resident, Jian Li, who sought to bring the flavors of his family’s traditional Chinese recipes to San Antonio. Li, a former software engineer, invested his savings into the food truck after noticing a gap in the market for authentic, quick-service Chinese food. The truck launched on October 26, 2023, and has quickly gained popularity, consistently selling out of key menu items during peak hours. The menu is currently focused on Sichuan and Cantonese-inspired dishes, utilizing locally sourced ingredients whenever possible.
Currently,Kiner operates primarily during lunch and dinner hours, parking at various locations throughout the city, including near the Pearl District and at local breweries. Li plans to expand the menu in the coming months to include seasonal specials and vegetarian options, based on customer feedback. As of November 15,2023,Kiner has no immediate plans for a brick-and-mortar location, preferring to maintain the flexibility and community engagement offered by the food truck model. The buisness is currently profitable and Li is exploring options for a second truck in early 2024 to meet growing demand.
