The series of mysterious incidents that happened two years ago in Kottayam Medical College is getting a movie in Malayalam. The incident of a woman screaming in the middle of the night from an abandoned building in the medical college campus was the cause of much controversy. The collapsed building was near the maternity ward. There were days when the patients and attendants coming to the hospital could not even go out due to fear. Following the complaint of the authorities, the police had announced an investigation.
The script of the movie Vamanan starring Indrans is based on this incident. The shooting of the film will hit the theaters on December 16. In an interview conducted as part of the promotion of the film, director and writer AB Binil explained the events that took place at the Kottayam Medical College. Binil said that the research he did after coming to the attention of the news led to the writing of the film.
The hospital staff and patients heard the sound of a screaming woman. Top officials of the medical college also confirmed the incident. Local political activists and nearby residents who came to know heard the noise at night. But no one was willing to go to the place where they heard the sound at night. Many retreated in fear due to the proximity of the wards where so many deaths had occurred. With this, the hospital authorities filed a complaint at the Medical College Police Station.
