World Archery: Bronze for India- Dinamani

India bagged a bronze medal in the compound mixed team category at the World Games archery competition in the US.

India’s Abhishek Verma/Jyoti Surekha combination saw a “thrill” victory over Mexico’s Andrea Beguera/Michael Beguera in that category, 157-156.

In the compound men’s individual category, Abhishek Verma put on an impressive display by defeating world number 1 and American Mike Schlosser in the quarterfinals. But he lost in the semi-finals to Jean-Philippe Beulch of France (141-143) and then lost to Canada’s Christopher Perkins in the bronze medal round (145-148).

Abhishek Asthal: According to Archery Association of India, this medal won by Abhishek/Jyoti is the first medal for India in the history of World Games Archery Competition (World Games).

Also, this is Abhishek Verma’s 50th medal in international archery competitions. Currently, Abhishek holds the distinction of being the only Indian to have won a medal in all events in compound archery including World Games, World Championship, World Cup Final, World Cup, Asian Games and Asian Championship.
