Lucy Lawless to Discuss Directorial Debut, ‘Never Look Away,’ at Meaford Film Festival

A powerful new documentary and the celebrated actress behind Xena: Warrior Princess are heading to the Meaford International Film Festival (MIFF).

Lucy Lawless will participate in a Q&A session following a screening of her directorial debut, Never Look Away, at MIFF on September 19th at 1:30 p.m. The film, an award-winning documentary, focuses on the work of Margaret Moth, a CNN camera operator who documents conflict zones globally. Lawless will join the audience remotely via Zoom for the discussion.

A Look Behind the Lens of War Correspondence

Never Look Away offers a compelling perspective on the often-unseen sacrifices made by journalists and camera operators who bring global conflicts into homes worldwide. According to a statement from MIFF’s artistic director, Anna den Hengst, “Lucy Lawless is known around the world for her television roles, but her directorial debut brings us an important look at what individuals like Margaret Moth go through to show us the truth.”

The film’s release comes at a particularly relevant moment, as den Hengst notes, “This is a very important film, especially at a time when the news and the very idea of truth are under fire.” The documentary promises to be a thought-provoking exploration of the challenges and responsibilities inherent in war correspondence.
