Passive component giant Yageo reported third-quarter revenue of NT$49.53 billion alongside an 88% surge in net profit, yet its shares dropped over 8% below the NT$500 threshold following its October 29 briefing, driven by broader market sell-offs and shifting valuations despite strong artificial intelligence demand.
When Yageo held its investor conference on October 29, 2026, the financial metrics presented to the market looked formidable.
Operating performance metrics also expanded notably, with the gross profit margin reaching 41.0% and the operating profit margin climbing to 29.5% for the quarter.
Yet the day after the disclosures, the stock faced heavy selling pressure amid a broader market correction. Shares tumbled below the NT$500 benchmark, touching an intraday low of NT$493 before closing at NT$502, down more than 8% as broader electronic weight stocks absorbed sharp losses across the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
Artificial Intelligence Orders Drive Record Margins and Production Utilization
Underpinning the financial results is an expansion in high-end applications, led by artificial intelligence demand that pushed quarterly AI-related revenue to 19.8% of the total, up from 16% in the second quarter and roughly 5% a year prior. General Manager and CEO David Wang noted that robust orders for multilayer ceramic capacitors, tantalum capacitors, and thin-film components reflected widespread adoption across server and power architectures.

Gross margins rose to 41.0%, representing a 2.5 percentage point improvement from the previous quarter and a 4.8 percentage point increase over the same period last year. Operating profit margins reached 29.5%, while overall capacity utilization hovered near 95% for both standard and special products. Order-to-bill ratios remained near 2.0, indicating that incoming demand continued to outpace outbound shipments despite the expanded production baseline.
Co-COO Claudio Lollini explained that AI expansion extends across diverse component categories, highlighting that tantalum capacitors see heavy utilization in computing and telecommunications, while film components and aluminum electrolytic capacitors experience extensive deployment in power-end structures. Meanwhile, the company’s inventory turnover days stood at 115 days, incorporating strategic raw material reserves to insulate operations against supply fluctuations.

Retail Shareholder Inflows Contrast With Institutional Target Price Adjustments
Analyst reports from several domestic brokerages noted that while operational performance exceeded forecasts, the price-to-earnings multiples assigned to international peers had contracted toward 25 times. Consequently, major institutional desks trimmed their 12-month targets—ranging across firms from NT$750 to NT$841—while forecasting full-year earnings per share to approach approximately NT$20.
Capacity Expansion Plans and Fourth-Quarter Guidance for 2027
Looking toward the final months of the year, management broke with seasonal norms by projecting sequential growth. Yageo executives indicated that fourth-quarter revenue and margins are expected to edge higher than third-quarter figures, supported by firm order backlogs and ongoing price adjustments for tight component supplies.
To accommodate sustained demand through 2027, the company announced plans to expand total production capacity by 10% to 15%, with new output scheduled to come online in phases beginning in the second quarter of 2027. Management emphasized that maintaining operating utilization rates between 85% and 90% remains the long-term target once new lines open, ensuring flexibility to handle rapid shifts in customer order volumes without straining factory floors.
