The Kozelsk missile formation (Kaluga region) loaded an intercontinental ballistic missile “Yars” into a silo launcher.

The rocket was installed in silos using a special transport and loading unit. The most complex technological operations took place within a few hours.

The Kozelsk missile formation in the Kaluga region is the first to be re-equipped with the stationary-based Yars missile system.

The rearmament of the Strategic Missile Forces consists not only in equipping troops with new missile systems, but also in creating a new social infrastructure that provides better conditions for training duty forces, carrying out combat duty and rest by personnel.

The implementation of the measures planned for 2021 for the rearmament of the Strategic Missile Forces group will increase the share of modern strategic missile systems to and increase the group’s capabilities to carry out nuclear deterrence tasks.

The Yars missile system exists both in a stationary silo and in a mobile ground-based version.

On July 13, it was reported that in the Altai Territory, during the round-the-clock large-scale exercises of the Strategic Missile Forces, the Yars mobile ground-based missile systems carried out intensive maneuvering actions on combat patrol routes. After a 100-kilometer march, the missilemen brought the complexes to field positions and began to work out issues on the protection and defense of autonomous launchers.
