The festive gala concert “Verdi Gala”, dedicated to the 210th anniversary of the birth of the Italian classic, will take place on March 26 in the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory.

As Day.Az reports with reference to AZERTAC, textbook arias from the famous operas of Giuseppe Verdi, including “Aida”, “Il Trovatore”, “Don Carlos”, “Force of Destiny”, “Un ballo in maschera” and others, will be performed by a world opera star Yusif Eyvazov, as well as special guests Daria Rybak (soprano) and Mahir Tagizade (baritone).

The concert will be accompanied by the Moscow State Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Ivan Rudin, and one of the brightest young Russian conductors, Denis Vlasenko, will be at the conductor’s stand.

A recognized record holder among composers, Giuseppe Verdi is a genius of opera music. It can be said that every evening one of his operas is performed in at least one of the theaters around the world, each of which has become an international hit. It was Verdi who made opera a truly folk art, conveying in his music the main features of the Italian nation – extreme emotionality, uncompromising passion, brightness, generosity and charm. His expressive melodies are heard by everyone, and any of them is recognized from the first notes. Surrounded by universal respect already during his lifetime, he still remains a cult figure in the world of music. “The audience in the theater forgives everything except boredom,” Verdi himself repeatedly repeated and with incredible ease he produced masterpiece after masterpiece. On October 10, 2023, the world celebrated the 210th anniversary of the birth of the great genius, and the festive concert at the Moscow Conservatory is a wonderful reminder of how Verdi’s music forever enriched the world of opera.

Yusif Eyvazov – People’s Artist of Azerbaijan (2018), director of the Azerbaijan State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater (2023). A student of Placido Domingo and Luciano Pavarotti himself, Yusif Eyvazov has repeatedly become a laureate of international vocal competitions. Today the singer performs in the world’s leading opera houses, including La Scala, the Vienna State Opera, the Royal Opera House of London, the National Opera of Paris, etc. His opera season is 2023/2024. The singer began as Radames in the new production of Aida by the famous director Barry Koski at the Berlin State Opera, receiving many rave reviews in the foreign press. Today, the dramatic tenor’s repertoire mainly includes parts from operas by Verdi, Puccini, Leoncavallo and other Italian composers, whose music fully reveals the dramatic talent and vocal skill of Yusif Eyvazov.

Daria Rybak is a native of Switzerland, winner of the 2020 Migros Culture Percentage award. In the summer of 2018 she received a Bachelor of Music degree from the Royal College of Music (London). She won the Swiss National Music Competition SJMW in 2011 and 2013, and is a recipient of the Baccarini and Hugues-Cuenot awards. Daria’s repertoire includes leading roles in Italian, German, French and Russian operas. Recently, Yusif Eyvazov has been her mentor.

Mahir Tagizade is the leading soloist of the Azerbaijan State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater, laureate of international vocal competitions. The owner of a unique voice, in his homeland the singer is known for performing parts of the Italian repertoire, including La Bohème, La Traviata, Rigoletto, The Cloak and many others.

The Moscow State Symphony Orchestra (MGSO) was created in 1989. In the summer of 2017, by order of the Moscow Department of Culture, the famous pianist Ivan Rudin was appointed artistic director of the MGSO. With the arrival of a new leader, big changes took place in the team. Over the past six years, the composition of the orchestra has been significantly updated, the repertoire has expanded, and collaboration has begun with leading Russian and foreign performers, young conductors and soloists. Today the group’s repertoire includes masterpieces of Russian and foreign classics, as well as works by contemporary composers. Music critics praise the group’s art, culture, stylistic sensitivity, excellent ensemble qualities and artistic merit of interpretations.

Denis Vlasenko is one of the brightest young Russian conductors. After graduating from the A.V. Sveshnikov Choral School and the V.S. Popov Academy of Choral Art, he was educated as an opera and symphony conductor at the Moscow and St. Petersburg Conservatories. In 2010, he won the competition among conductors for the State Symphony Orchestra “New Russia” under the baton of Yuri Bashmet. He has repeatedly collaborated with many Russian and foreign groups and performed with world stars of the classical stage. Since January 2022, Maestro Vlasenko has been the artistic director and chief conductor of the State Academic Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theater named after Alisher Navoi in Tashkent (Uzbekistan). Since March 2023 – artistic director and chief conductor of the Academic Symphony Orchestra of the Samara Philharmonic.
