The discovery: Zephyr, standing wind

There is not “one” French-speaking Belgian rap. As here, the style is combined in the plural far from easy shortcuts, seeking to place in front of the same microphone profiles that are however totally different. Even if the bridges exist, even featurings between them, the gondola heads Hamsa, Damso or Roméo Elvis are the symbols of the abundant diversity of hip-hop made in Brussels. To which we can now add a real suitor to join this famous trio. Born in the Belgian capital, the one who borrowed his first name to make it his stage name grew up near Nantes and had his first musical experience in a garage punk band. Passionate about skateboarding, he is also very interested in French rap which makes him want to take up writing in his turn.

His return to Brussels to join an art school also marks the arrival of the pseudo Zéphir and the first tracks in 2020. Rather than aligning himself with some of his colleagues and quickly flooding the market with an abundant production, the young man devoted two years to finally tell his story in a long format. Revolving precisely around the love troubles of Zéphir who is renamed here Clyde. And who says Clyde, obviously says Bonnie, and we follow throughout these ten very melodic tracks, the ups and downs of a couple of emotional gangsters. Half-rapper, half-singer, the Belgian bases his flow between voluptuousness and irony, on a solid and original soundtrack nourished by organic instruments and soul-jazz influences. Good luck!

Josh Caffe You (Erol Alkan Rework)

Singer Josh Caffe and Erol Alkan celebrate 40 years of house music in their own way: dark, moist and lascivious, but with a naïve little melody that goes into your head and never comes out. Simple and efficient.

Gonthier The Rhythm Of The Night

An accomplished musician, this Marseille-born singer-producer uses this quality to explore the rich contours of surprising pop, a fan of the big gap between song and electronics. As close to Sanson as to Vitalic.

Luke Belluco with my cha

The hunt for a summer hit for the dancefloor is on. This young producer plays a great card with the powerful pulse of this slightly trance techno and his little Latino vocal sample that goes well. Tuune?

soul air Someone feat. Arvild J. Baud

Disappeared from radar since his hit Manila in 2002, the Swiss producer Beat Solèr has lost none of his taste for half-jazz, half-trip hop composition with luxuriant exoticism, but very elegant. The feel good effect is guaranteed.

Brandt Brauer Frick Perpetuate

The strange German trio, which in the past mixed classical music and clubs, returns with an arty and disconcerting album. But never forget to dance. The proof.
