30 projects to be voted on to execute by PP

After comparing citizen opinion, the development plan of El Poblado and the current District Development Plan, the Secretariat of Citizen Participation of Medellín will call on citizens authorized to vote in our Commune 14, so that we prioritize the projects to be financed by the Participatory Budget and executed here, throughout 2025.

Voting to choose these projects will take place throughout the city, virtually and in person, from Saturday, November 16 to Sunday, the 24th of the same month. On this last day, voting can only be done in person, at points to be defined in each commune. The specific mechanism for virtual voting will be announced in the coming weeks.

Both the name of each project, as well as its location and final numbering with which it appears within the options to vote, will be known prior to the voting.

The District of Medellín affirms that, in the next four years, $1.5 billion will be executed through Local Planning (PL) and Participatory Budgeting (PP). In 2024, for the entire city, projects worth $400 billion will be chosen, which must be executed next year.

On October 4, at the House of Culture of El Poblado, the Dissemination Fair of the Participatory Budget Projects, proposed for Commune 14, was held. In total, there are 30 projects that could be executed by 17 secretariats or district entities.

Here, we share the list:

• Implementation of the individual, family and group psychosocial support strategy (in care of the unaccompanied elderly and people with mobility disabilities, for 150 beneficiaries; $112 million).

• Improvement of road signage in Commune 14 ($160 million).

• Training in communication for promotion and creation of communication processes and media ($190 million).

• Support for the artistic and cultural agenda and initiatives in El Poblado (six artistic and cultural festivals; $495 million).

• Training and artistic and cultural promotion (12 training workshops, strengthening work plans and management of creative economy organizations; $548 million)

• Protection of material and intangible heritage ($13.2 million to strengthen Heritage Watchers in El Poblado).

• Recognition and dignity of people with diverse sexual orientations, identities and gender expressions ($180 million in training and cultural activities on the subject).

• Strengthening the Protective Environment School program (psychosocial support, $125 million).

• Strengthening the Complementary Education program in the bilingualism component, for students and teachers (for 150 people; $183 million).

• Implementation of food security strategies (300 food vouchers for families and individuals in vulnerable conditions; $684 million).

• Implementation of actions for the autonomy and social inclusion of people with disabilities and caregivers (for 53 direct beneficiaries; $135 million).

• Strengthening sports, recreation and physical activity in El Poblado (festivals, tournaments, fairs, walks, sunny days, endowment; $1,697 million).

• Strengthening the environmental culture of Commune 14 (communications plan on environmental culture; $45 million).

• Strengthening of entities and promotion of citizen participation and mobilization (support for the work plan of the El Poblado Communal Planning Council; $90 million).

• Consolidation of the Training School for Democratic Participation, in El Poblado (to train 65 people; $278 million).

• Strengthening social organizations, Community Action Boards, Asocomunal and Local Administrative Board (includes maintenance and minor works at headquarters; $678 million).

• Implementation of strategies for the promotion of human rights and the construction of citizen peace (Human Rights Roundtable, campaigns and neighborhood school; $130 million).

• Training in digital skills for industry 4.0 and 5.0 (for 25 people; $55 million).

• Strengthening the digital skills training project (for 15 people; $60 million).

• Implementation of the Visionarios program in Commune 14 El Poblado (for 30 people, training in digital skills and creative industries; $134 million).

• Strengthening solid waste management in Commune 14 (awareness raising for 5,300 people; $170 million).

• Improvement of public space infrastructure (for green areas and ecological corridors; $4,030 million).

• Improvement of infrastructure for pedestrian and vehicular mobility (construction and improvement of roads, complementary works and platforms; $3,710 million).

• Strengthening organizations in favor of environmental culture (Environmental Roundtable, JAC Environmental Committees, campaigns and diploma; $385 million).

• Adaptation of green areas and ecological trails (includes construction of a wooden bridge over the La Escopetería stream; $350 million).

• Social assistance for the elderly population in El Poblado (training in crafts, training for caregivers and a day of sunshine, for 962 people; $589 million).

• Prevention of illness and promotion of mental health (campaigns for the family, two listeners, prevention campaign against sexual violence; $589 million).

• Strengthening access and permanence in post-secondary education (40 beneficiaries of Sapiencia financing programs; $2,522 million).

• Strengthening tourism for the recovery of the 10th Street corridor (agreements with strategic sectors and articulated work between 10 district agencies and eight external entities; $325 million).

• Acquisition and installation of security cameras in Commune 14 (plus video surveillance systems in critical points; $1,613 million).
