Chhatarpur: The Food Safety Department has raided the restaurants and sweet shops running in Bageshwar Dham. After the Tirupati Balaji laddu controversy, this action has been taken due to the fear of adulteration in Prasad in Bageshwar Dham also.
On the instructions of Chhatarpur Collector Partha Jaiswal, the department team has taken samples of food items from about 10 Prasad shops and 2 hotels. Spoiled milk cakes and Magaj laddus have also been destroyed from the shops.
The department feared adulteration
The department feared that the Prasad served to the devotees in the Dham could be adulterated. Therefore the Collector had constituted an investigation team. This team inspected all the restaurants and sweet shops running in the Dham and took samples.

After the raid, the department has instructed shopkeepers to use fresh ingredients and not keep food items in the open. The department has warned that if adulteration is found in any shop, strict action will be taken.
