These workshops were an opportunity to shine the spotlight on the progress made since Morocco‘s ratification in 1993 of the International Convention on the Rights of the Child, as well as on the efforts made by the National Human Rights Council (CNDH) and the Regional Commission in terms of promotion and protection of children’s rights and the major projects launched in terms of strengthening children’s rights and their preservation.
Thanks to educational and entertainment tools, schoolchildren learned better, in an atmosphere of atmosphere, the importance of respecting the various rights of children including the right to education, the right to health, the right to a family environment or the right to play and leisure.
In a statement to MAP, Ismaili Alaoui Mohamed, administrative executive at the CRDH of Drâa-Tafilalet, indicated that these workshops, marked by great interaction of children, were initiated as part of the opening of the Commission on different regional actors and partners.
These workshops provide an opportunity to introduce children to the mechanisms, legal provisions and conventions put in place for the protection and promotion of children’s rights at the national and international level.
And to let it be known that the CRDH has set up a stand at the regional book fair which includes in particular the publications and reports of the National Human Rights Council, while creating a space for exchange and meeting with visitors around different questions relating to the theme of human rights.
Organized by the Regional Directorate of Culture of Drâa-Tafilalet, in cooperation with the Wilaya of the Drâa-Tafilalet region and the Municipal Council of Errachidia, the 7th edition of the Regional Book Fair sees the participation of 36 exhibitors, representing institutions governmental and non-governmental, national publishing houses in addition to local writers.
As part of the strategy of the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication, Department of Culture, aimed at encouraging reading and supporting writers and publishing houses, this cultural event, held under the theme “The book, branch in the oasis of knowledge”, intends to encourage children and young people to read, to bring writers closer to citizens and to shine the spotlight on various intellectual questions.
